Sunny Days at Home

Well, actually, it’s raining, but lets not worry about that. Good weekend so far – was out and about in Bristol on Friday night. Not sure I was really in the mood for it, but imbibed a few ciders (why does nowhere in Bristol sell Strongbow? Had to make do with Blackthorn!) and on the whole it was ok.

Saturday morning was spent helping Kate recover from her hangover – by the time I’d done that it was lunchtime and I’d developed a thumping headache. Rather odd as I’d been ok up until then, but a couple of paracetemol and a 30 minute lie down and I was good to go.

Spent the rest of the afternoon/evening in Taunton with Kate and her family, enjoyed a very good set of curries and naan bread, then drove back after watching the 50 worst videos on VH-1. Unsurprisingly most of them were from the 80′s, but number one was a Cliff Richard number. He was on roller skates. Whether or not this was what tipped it over the edge, I can’t be sure.

This morning was spent having a lie in. I haven’t had one for probably months now, and I really enjoyed it. I tend to think quite a lot, and I’ve not had time just to straighten my mind out – everyone needs quiet time to themselves I think, and what with the job, and girlfriend and everything I haven’t had that time of late. I am more busy than I’ve been previously, and that’s taken it toll. It’s really hard to describe how much better I feel for that time. So there you go. Feeling run down? Have a lie in!

I’ve even had a good idea for the photos pages now. I’d made some progess on them but had noticed they were coming out looking rather too much like Rick’s page. So back to the drawing boardo on that one, but I think I’ve come up with a fun little idea for them now. So hopefully I’ll make some progress on that today too.

Mmm, that smells nice.

I think I must be going mad, I had fajitas on Friday, I’ve had god knows how many showers and instances of hand washing since then, and still my hands smell of them.

Which is nice, because I happen to like the smell of fajitas…

Pet Peeves

One of the things that really annoys me is people driving along with their fog lights on when conditions don’t warrant it. So today I was driving into work, when I spy at car a little further up the road, with a fog light on. It was drizzling a bit, and there was a little spray coming up from the road, but essentially you could see clearly for quite some distance.

The number plate on this car, a maroon Ford Fiesta, read “P44 SSD”. So I know what you’re thinking, it’s a driving instructor. You’d be right, I recognised it because this driving instructor taught us about basic car maintenance when we were in school. As I pulled alongside, I looked over and saw that it was, indeed, him. I carried on and fumed.

After all, if driving instructors can’t get this basic stuff right, what hope is there for everyone else on the road?

On Getting Old

The usual drive up to work from Bristol this morning, made it into work for 9:45, thank you flexitime! Anyway, as I was passing through Monmouth, I was sitting at the traffic lights on the Wye Bridge waiting to turn onto the dual carriageway. It was about 9:08(ish) and I could see some school kids walking away from the school towards the sports ground. Only 3 of them mind. They were from The Grange, the primary school I went to. Now, they may have changed the timings of lessons, but I don’t think they should have been there at that time. They should have been in school. I gave them a knowing look anyway as they walked past. Kids today eh?

Also, Teg, I haven’t been ignoring you, just haven’t had time to search through. Anyway, the story with Kate starts about here. Give that a try!

Notes from Saturday Night

  • Revolution and Evolution in Bristol are completely different.
  • Not only does 80% proof Vodka taste like fire, but drinking two shots of it is a silly idea.
  • One cigarette probably won’t make a difference, especially if you didn’t enjoy it.
  • Menthol cigarettes aren’t that bad.
  • Taking a cigarette from someone forcibly may cause pain
  • The disappearance of someone for a short while may leave you thinking they’re giving you some time alone with your girlfriend, whereas in fact they are being sick in the toilet.
  • Lemsip followed by roast in pub is a good hangover cure. Raisin Wheats are not…

Where Is Everyone

So what do I do in work? One thing I do is check LiveJournal occasionally. Seemingly no one, including on the communities I’m in. What’s that all about? Madness.

Anyway, this evening I’ve done a little work on the photos page. Not much of use there yet though, still. Unfortunately the colours seem to be a bit off on my thumbnail resizing thing. As it was like that on the old host, I assume there is a setting I need to change. I guess I’ll need to look that up.

How am I? I hear you ask. Good for the most part. I’ve been a bit jaded today, not really sure why. It’s hard work sometimes when you’ve got a load of little bits and pieces that need doing in work, as you can end up not sure what you’re supposed to be doing and then end up feeling a bit listless. I think that’s what happened today anyway. I’m paintballing tomorrow too, which is going to be a lot of fun. If painful. Just hope that I get shot less than I shoot other people. Mwhahahaha. “Noooooooooooo… PJ!”
