Running along quite nicely now

I’ve made some more updates to the site now, the main addition being comments for photos. I think the code still needs some more tweaking so it can make better sense of characters that can currently break it, but that’s for a later date.

Anyway, today I’ve been working on my project, and I must say I’ve surprised myself with the pace of the progress I’m making – somehow I wish I’d started this work earlier, so it would be finished, but I reckon it will be 95% done by the end of next week.

I’ve been away in Oxford for nearly a week with Fran sorting out a network in her house over there so they can all make use of ntl broadband. I had a great time with her, and particularly my birthday present – a day ticket for Reading Festival on Saturday. While many of the bands playing weren’t ones I knew too well, they were very good, and Blur were pretty amazing. Thanks again Fran!

Holiday Photos Up

I’ve finally got all of the pictures from my holiday in Florida on the site now – even given them all captions too. It does add another thing to my to do list – automate this whole process so it’s much easier. Also I need to write a little page to make adding entries to this page a bit easier. At the moment I do it by manipulating the database directly, and I can’t be bothered doing that.

I’m still sore today from the karting yesterday. I don’t remember being thumped about quite so much on that circuit before. I’ve dropped under 12 stone for the first time since I came back from Florida too. I’ve done so little today too, which is kind of disappointing. I finally did start writing my to do list on what needs doing on my little project, and while there is still quite a bit left, it’s all doable stuff, so I need to get cracking on that soon.

Tired, yet happy

Took part in the Gold Track Driving Club summer endurance race at Daytona in a team made up of myself, and fellow CIXen, Dave and Steve. Steve gave us a great start and got us into the lead during the first stint, and somehow during the driver change where I took over we got about a lap ahead of 2nd. From that point on it was just a case of keeping it on the black stuff for the rest of the race, which we did pretty much. While my personal pace could of been a bit quicker, it was consistency that was needed, and I think I achieved that with strings of 1:12 laps. I had a nice little battle with the guy in 2nd during my second stint as he tried to unlap himself. In the end he got past me – it wasn’t worth my while trying too hard to keep him behind, and we still won by the best part of a lap due to smooth pit work :) So now I have another medal to add to my collection (4 now I think)

Refreshed

Well, I have returned from a 2 week holiday in Florida feeling pretty happy. Apart from the theme parks, which were great as usual, we sample some new restaurants. My personal favourite was Kimono’s, a sushi bar that served some truly wonderful food. It’s in the Swan, and if you ever go I recommend it. Anyway, we got a new digital camera while over there (and save a huge amount of money over what it would have cost here), and we took over 200 photos with it. I’ll be posting the best ones soon, but there are so many I might have to modify some of my photos code to break up the galleries into separate pages to make the loading a bit easier on those with slower connections (like me!). Also new is the “Me Across The Years” page fresh from one of my old sites. People seem to like it (or laughing at it), so it has returned. I have also updated My Cars too. Comments will probably be available on photos soon when I do my modifications to the code. I’m not sure they are working properly at the moment anyway, so I’ll be doing some tweaking of the code for them too.
